Don was born in San Antonio, Tx, and was raised from the 2nd grade through high school in Caldwell, ID. He began playing golf at age 12, and attended Arizona State and UNLV on golf scholarships, which left little time to devote to studying. After spending a few years dealing cards and roulette in Las Vegas (later becoming known as his internship for substance abuse counseling) Don spent time working on the TransAlaskan Pipeline before returning to school at AZUSA Pacific University to earn a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. Don was one of the first credentialed addiction counselor and licensed DUI evaluator in Idaho. He worked for many years at Port of Hope as a counselor, clinical supervisor and administrator.
Don has spent time in private practice as a mental health therapist, including numerous hospital psychiatric units. Don has also facilitated various groups and classes including DUI Prevention Education, Domestic Violence and Cognitive Change (CSC/ACE) and he has spent the past 13 years as a clinician with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections at JCC Nampa. Don and wife, Brenda, the Business Manager for Senior Solutions at the Boise Senior Center, have enjoyed raising their three children and taking many motorcycle trips over the past 25 years. After marginal knee surgery four years ago, Don essentially quit playing golf since he resisted having to ride in a cart to play. Having now successfully dealt with most of the delusions behind that resistance, he is presently planning on a major comeback in 2011, and is planning a serious rout of the senior league players at Centennial Golf Club in Nampa.
